School of Korean Traditional Arts was founded under K-ARTS with a clear goal to preserve and inherit the traditional arts for new creation and progress of arts in modern-day Korea. Geared toward key features of Korean traditional arts centered around instrumental music, song, and dance, diverse departments were established under the school, such as Departments of Korean Traditional Music; Dramatic Performing Arts; Dance; and Music Composition and Department of Korean Traditional Arts Theory that comprehensively and theoretically studies all of the foregoing departments. Inter-disciplinary classes are generating synergy among the departments.
School of Korean Traditional Arts at K-ARTS academically studies Korean traditional arts centered around instrumental music, song, and dance, and maximizes the capabilities of performance, serving as a university-level institution of higher education.
In a bid to lay the groundwork for fulfilling the role of disseminating the culture and arts of the world, K-ARTS has hosted its scholarship students with excellent arts talents from developing countries around the world since 2005.
It is a program to host those with arts talents from developing countries at K-ARTS on full scholarship provided by Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism so that they can finish the regular curriculum of K-ARTS and graduate as K-ARTS students. Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, they are provided with full tuition, Korean language training courses, airfare, and living expenses during their stay in Korea. Many AMA+ Scholarship program graduates of K-Arts are already serving as a bridge for dissemination of Korean culture while playing a leading role in their home country as famous artists, national arts university professors/lecturers, cultural business entrepreneurs, members of national arts troupes, and public officials of related ministries.
